Frequently Asked Questions – DaDesktop for Training

1. For Power Bi and VBA, is there Excel inside DaDesktop (DD)? (as Excel functions are needed)

  1. No, MS Office is not included in DD (which runs on Win10 & Win11 Pro). The platform provides a DD VM and a training room only.
  2. Trainers should arrange a free-trial account of MS Office for all delegates.
  3. Alternatively, delegates may use their own MS Office accounts.

2. Can I copy something from my own desktop to my DD desktop?

  1. Yes, we've added a simple way to upload files from your local machine to the DD desktop. The only small restriction is that you can transfer only one file at a time right now. However, you can easily create a zip or archive containing all the files you need and copy that over to your DaDesktop machine without any trouble.
  2. If you're using a cloud storage system, remember to log out from it before cloning to all delegates.

3. Why is the text in DD blurry, unclear, or even invisible?

  1. If you are using Chrome, head to chrome://settings/system and disable hardware acceleration.

4. Do Trainers have access to the NobleProg wiki?

  1. No—according to the Terms and Conditions at https://hr.nobleprog.com/trainer/register, trainers are not permitted to access the wiki.
  2. If you need to send content for editing on the NobleProg wiki, just copy and paste it and email it to the trainer (a PDF also works fine).

5. Are there any domains we can whitelist when using proxy or content/network filtering to enable better working?

Yes! Please add any domains matching this pattern to your whitelist :-

  1.              *.npg.io
  2.             https://dd4t.dadesktop.com

For any further questions, contact DaDesktop Support.

6. How can I have multiple desktops when using DD, like Ansible Training?

  1. Trainers can begin by setting up and choosing configurations for DD (RAM, CPUs, and disk).
  2. Then install Virt Manager or VirtualBox inside DD to create several virtual machines and configure networking between them.
  3. Once everything is set up, you can clone to delegates in seconds.
  4. If you need assistance, contact DaDesktop Support.

7. What is the server capacity?

  1. It depends on the server hardware.
  2. For example, a server with 512 GB RAM can be utilised as 512 GB × 3 (i.e., effectively 1536 GB of usable RAM across desktops).
  3. Maximum disk per server is 250 GB, with 16 CPU threads per desktop; RAM settings are fully customisable.

8. Can I download the Video from the Training Recordings?

  1. Yes, recordings can now be downloaded—just click the three small dots on the right side of the video player.
  2. The video includes audio recording if you use the sound from the training room.

9. Which browser should I used for DD?

  1. Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera work perfectly.
  2. Other browsers such as Internet Explorer are not fully supported.

10. Why is there a huge delay using DaDesktop?

  1. Check your network connection—DaDesktop performance relies on your local internet speed.
  2. Also verify the server location; the coordinator typically chooses a server close to the participants.
  3. Switch off your VPN or configure it to PAC mode. Additionally, disable any security applications, particularly those that interfere with WebSockets, which are essential for smooth DaDesktop operation.

11. Websocket is blocked or not supported by network

Smooth remote desktop access depends on Websocket

  1. Your device might be blocking it. Check settings or configurations that could block Websocket. For instance, on some Chromebooks, if the proxy setting "Use the same proxy for all protocols" is enabled, Websocket may fail (it assigns a proxy to the SOCKS host). Disable that option and leave the SOCKS host field empty—this often resolves the issue.
  2. It could also be a network-level block, not your device. You'll need to contact your network administrator and ask them to unblock Websocket.

12. What support do you have for GPU, ie for 3d applications, etc ?

  1. Check out our GPU page for details on GPU support.

13. Is there any potential issues or answers?

  1. Using DaDesktop is largely the same as any ordinary Windows or Linux machine, but there are a few small issues that might crop up with certain software in a training setting, especially related to cloning machines.

14. Do you support Mac compatible programs or Mac Emulation?

  1. No, we do not support Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation, mainly because of licensing concerns that frequently come up.
